Can I paddle anywhere?
In the UK, you need a license to paddle in most of the waterways,
rivers, lakes, etc.
BCU membership (Canoe England, Canoe Wales, Scotland Canoe Association
and the Canoe Association of Northern Ireland) includes a licence
to paddle on 5000km of Britain's waterways and canals.
Not all inland water is open to canoeists, some are privately owned
or is bounded by land which is private, so do check beforehand.
See Useful Web sites page.
In other countries, do check with your national kayak organisations
and waterway / off-shore agencies etc.

If you love spending time on the water
but hate the inconvenience of lugging
a plastic kayak / canoe to your destination, a
folding kayak is a great solution. These
folding kayaks pack into standard-sized backpack/s.
The folding kayaks are streamlined, have wide beams, low center
of gravity, large decks and have the option to use with spray
covers. Excellent in open or stormy seas, surf, shallows and
marshes. Folding kayaks are renowned for being the better boat
to fish from compared to hardshell boats because of the hull
absorbing wave actions which produces less noise.
Fishing rod holders, camera mounts and other attachments can
be easily fitted to an adjustable wooden Accessory Mounting
can be fastened anywhere
along the coaming. Camera mounts can be attached to the bow
/ stern using the D-rings on the decklines. Outrigger pontoons
for extra stability, allowing you
up, can easily be attached.
For the kayak decks, there is a range of natural colours to choose from to
blend in with the surroundings, as well as camouflage skirts available as
an optional extra with the single seater Harpoon I / double seater Amazons
Mk1 & Mk
II range of commando folding kayaks).
kayaks are a great solution! These kinds of kayaks are
guaranteed to add enjoyment to your fishing, photography
Folding kayaks have either a wooden or aluminum frame and a skin made of marine
grade canvas for the deck and tough hypalon (or CSM / TPU) for the hull.
The boats pack into bags no longer than 1.5m. The packing bags can be easily
stored in the boot of the car, or in the storage space in a motor home / caravan.
The bags can also be put on trolleys / kayak carts and be easily taken on trains.
Expedition type of folding kayaks are renowned for having large internal storage
spaces, so for that extended camping trip you can pack quite a lot of stuff without
having to stow anything on top of the decks. Folding
kayaks do have a lot more internal room compared to inflatable kayaks, plastic
touring kayaks and glass fibre sea kayaks. The cockpits are generally larger
so it is very easy to get in and out of the boat.
Depending on the model, the total packed weight of the kayak range between 25kg
a single seater to a family size 4-5 seater.
Average assembly time is 15-20 minutes, but with practice,
you can easily assemble much quicker. No tools is required - the wooden frame
pieces are 'cliplocked' together.
Camouflage skirts fitted over the kayak. There is a range of patterns to
choose from. Ideal for wildlife photography or wild camping.
